MONTREAL, QC – The biggest game in franchise history announced the release of Assassin’s Creed III on Tuesday. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with six other Ubisoft studios.
“Assassin’s Creed III is Ubisoft’s biggest launch ever and the most ambitious game in our history. Today, we delivered on the vision the team had three years ago thanks to the tremendous talent and hard work of the many Ubisoft studios involved,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft.
The leading entertainment company made another unique announcement, revealing its partnership with superstar Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price. They explained that teaming up with Price felt right. The lead character in the game by the name of Connor is of Native American and English heritage. As you may know, Carey Price has some native roots too and the rest is history.
“It’s not everyday that a video game company comes up to you. When I found out that Connor was half Native American it touched me,” said Price.
Ubisoft announced that Price helped them design three different goalie masks. People can vote on TSN.ca and RDS.ca for their favorite until November 15. The winning mask will be produced 31 times and auctioned. All the money raised will go to different charities. Why 31? I think you can guess! The highest bidder will then get the opportunity to meet our superstar goalie.
When asked why he changes goalie masks so often during the season Price responded by saying that “the goalie mask is a unique piece of equipment. I have the opportunity to change it. It’s a sense of freedom and I get to put my ideas on there.”
Price admits to having played Assassin’s Creed before but when it comes to playing games like FIFA or NHL, he says he just gets frustrated. He explains that he isn’t as good in the game than he is in real life. He also says he’s a bit of a “history nut” and that he likes video games set in these times.
Below you will find a few photos that I snapped at the event. Take a look at those masks, they are gorgeous!
