Our friends at Pepsi, Lay’s and Gatorade are giving you a chance to bring home the Cup for one day, delivered by a Stanley Cup champion. Depending on the region, the winner will receive a visit from Mark Messier, Guy Carbonneau or Doug Gilmour to watch a May playoff game with you in your home.
You can enter the contest here: Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion
All Habs Hockey Magazine is honoured to be a partner in this contest. We had an opportunity to interview Stanley Cup champions, Carbonneau and Gilmour. You can see their videos below.
But most importantly our readers were invited to describe their favourite Stanley Cup playoffs moment. One winner was eligible to receive a $50 prize package from Gatorade, Pepsi Max, and Lay’s Potato Chips.
I’m pleased to share with you a sample of our entries led off by Eric, the winner of the $50 prize. Congratulations!

My wife and I were living in New Zealand and I had seen very few hockey games in the year and a half we had been there. SkyTv was quite expensive and really beyond our means at the time. What was even worse, I had seen only one Habs game in all that time. So on Friday afternoon I was home because it was school holidays and Game 1 of the Montreal – Pittsburg series came on. I was supposed to be helping get ready for our friends coming over but instead I was glued to the tv. For the overtime, I was on my knees leaning over the coffee table. I’m sure my infant daughter learned some new words that day – to this day, swear jar fines are not applicable during Canadiens’ games – but our heroes won and the joy that followed lasted for over a week. To see a game was great but to make it a bleu blanc rouge OT playoff victory was what makes it my most memorable Stanley Cup Playoff moment.
It would have to be from a few years agowhen we finished first place. The city was in such a frenzy and it fely like ’93. I was just so excited and everyone had the feeling like we’d win it all. It was just so magical, and too bad we didn’t win at all, but the moment was just so special. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
The year was 1993 and this is actually my first hockey memory. I had snuck downstairs after my bedtime to watch the Habs win the Stanley Cup over the Kings. I remember Patrick Roy and Denis Savard yelling in sheer joy as an orchestra of car horns passed my house. From that moment on, I was hooked.
Last season, Game 7 vs the Pens. I had my Habs warpaint on, I was too nervous/excited to sit and stood for the entire game. As the clock counted down and we won I was so excited I started crying but then ran to the bathroom. My friends were superstitous and believed that if I pee’d during the game, we’d lose…it worked! But man! Did I ever have to pee at the end of the game! Beer + excitement + no bathroom = BAD!
Habs knocking out Flyers 4-0 in 1976 finals.
Game 2 of the 2008 Habs / Bruins series. First NHL game I sat through. Yup!
Habs scoring 2 goals only 9 seconds apart to win the Stanley Cup in 1986 at Calgary.
When my heartthrob Cam Warm (before I ever set my eyes on Carey Price of course) hoisted the Stanley Cup in his rookie year. Now all I want is Carey to do the same.
When the Habs came back to beat Boston in that series where they were almost swept.
In 1993 when I heard Bob Cole say “Desjardins!”
2002 Playoffs. Audette scores vs Carolina. I was there. It was awesome. Great moment. Second period of overtime I believe.
