Official Release: Habs Sign Cédrick Desjardins to One-Year Contract

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the signing of free agent goaltender Cédrick Desjardins to a one-year, two-way contract (2012-13). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Cédrick Desjardins, 26, played in 32 games with the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters in 2011-12. He posted a 16-11-5 record, a 2.11 goals against average and a .932 save percentage.

A native of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Cédrick Desjardins was part of the Canadiens organization between 2006 and 2010. He played a total of 92 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs, posting a 49-27-5 record. The 6’00’’, 192 lbs goaltender played in two NHL games (two wins) with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010-11.

Desjardins was named to the AHL Second All-Star team in 2010. He was also named the 2008 ECHL Playoff Most Valuable Player, winning the league championship with the Cincinnati Cyclones. In 2006, he won the Memorial Cup with the QMJHL Quebec Remparts, and was named the tournament best goaltender.
