Author Archive: Steven Ellis
Growing up with a Leafs fan for a father and a Habs fan for a mother, Steven had to decide which team he would cheer for. One day, before a Montreal and Toronto game at the Air Canada Center (because he lives in Toronto), he was given a Montreal jersey, and that's all it took. Steven's favorite players include Pk Subban, Dan Ellis, Tom Pyatt, Jose Theodore, Guillaume Latendresse, Ryan Ellis and Sergei Bobrovsky. His favorite positon is goalie, having played it himself.

Where Are They Now? Janne Niinimaa
With Saku Koivu, Tomas Plekanec, Steve Begin, Radek Bonk and Max Lapierre at centre ice, the Canadiens had room to make a deal and with a weak blue line, help was needed. The 26-year-old Ribeiro had led the team in scoring just two years prior, but numerous locker-room and off-ice incidents made him the expendable one on the Habs. Continue reading
Where Are They Now? Cristobal Huet
It all started when Huet was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings as their seventh-round pick, 214th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. A low risk prospect, it was expected that Huet would spend time overseas in Switzerland and than make the transition over to the AHL. After an impressive 16-8-5 record with the Manchester Monarchs, the L.A. Kings American Hockey League affiliate, in 2002-2003, Huet got his chance in the NHL, posting a 4-4-1 record with a 2.33 goals against average (GAA) on a weak Kings squad. Continue reading

The list continues to grow containing former NHL’ers that get lost in the outer hockey worlds each season. Once they’re out of the spotlight, all attention is shifted to the present and whatever you contributed to the club in the past is forgotten. Former Canadiens Oleg Petrov (Spartak Moskva of the KHL) and Paul Dipietro had little to nothing to with the 1993 Stanley Cup winning Montreal club, but 20 seasons later, they both have something they can say that the rest of that club can’t.
