Awful Merchandise: His and Hers Edition
Like many hockey fans, I’ve always got an eye out for merchandise that might interest me. I like finding, say, a T-shirt that I can wear again and again or a card with some emotional value. You may have read my previous post on hockey cards. However, I prefer coming across bad merchandise. Whether it’s tacky, badly designed, or just plain inappropriate, I find more entertainment value in ugly hockey merchandise than I do in most of the stuff I buy. Continue reading
Living in the Cap Age
The past few off-seasons have had Montreal Canadiens fans really learning what it is to cheer for a team in the age of the salary cap. Last year, the door to the vault of the bank was wide open and plenty of money was on the table for Bob Gainey to spend on the free agent market. This allowed the Habs organization to make the acquisitions of such key players as Mike Cammalleri, Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta to name a few.

MSM Takes One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
Following the “The MSM Doth Protest Too Much, Methinks” and its companion piece, “MSM and New Media, Next Steps”, we seemed to be making some progress. There were open discussions, an airing of views and, dare I say, a beginning of a better understanding of issues on both sides. There even seemed to be some enthusiasm for my proposal of a media summit.
It wasn’t exactly the Treaty of Versailles but it was an improvement on tensions that have been described as the battle between the mainstream media (MSM) and bloggers. Continue reading

Dan Ellis Says “Peace Out, Twitter!”
Dan Ellis, remember him? He’s the goaltender who’s rights were obtained from the Nashville Predators in the Sergei Kostitsyn trade. He’s the goaltender we quickly adored for an entire two days before he decided Montreal was not the proper place for him, and then ventured off to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Dan Ellis, who happens to be one of the NHL’s most active “twitterers” has decided, either himself or due to pressure, to leave his Twitter account. He made the announcement late Wednesday night, his account was still active a little after midnight. Continue reading
